What is transpersonal psychology?

What is transpersonal psychology? - Transpersonal psychology is an integration of psychology and spirituality. It includes all realms of being human, including realms that go beyond words and perceptions. It includes the awareness that we are spiritual beings living in physical bodies. When salt and water are mixed the salt is not observable and no longer takes up space but can be tasted as part of the water. Such is the transpersonal experience, which expands beyond the boundaries and limitations of time and space. Transpersonal psychology recognizes the importance of our individual personalities, but it also includes mystical realms of experience which extend outside the limitations of intellectual understanding and material existence. Transpersonal psychology does not oppose or contradict other models of psychology. The transpersonal orientation is inclusive. It builds and expands upon traditional models for a more holistic realization...

Where Souls Meet

Where Souls Meet - The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you'll find that the subject of human beings meeting in soul is certainly no exception. This is done in several ways: You can do this as you care for a dying loved one. You can do this in putting a bandaide on a child who is hurt. You can do this when you offer forgiveness to someone who has harmed you. You essentually do this any time you reach out to help someone in need. You meet in soul when a baby is born. You meet in soul each moment of living when you remember who you are. Truthfully, the only difference between you and the so-called gurus is time. If you'll invest a little more time in reading and living, you'll be that much closer to maturity status when it comes to living in soul. Learning how to live in soul requires reflective analysis and the ability to learn from your mistakes. Insodoing, we gain in wisdom through remembering who we really...

Who Am I?

Who am I? What come to mind when you ask this of yourself? How many different memories, ideas, and things seem like a part of you? What do you identify with? Does this process of identification help you, or just cause suffering? Perhaps when your favorite basketball team loses, you suffer as though YOU lost. When your car is damaged it feels like YOU are hurt. When somebody attacks who they think you are, it seems as though they actually reach inside and poke at your true self. How can you escape this unecessary drama and pain? Perhaps by seeing who and what you are not. Seeing the process of identification clearly can free you from the ego attachments that cause you to suffer. There is a simple meditation that can help you with this. Who Am I - A Meditation On Self Identity Sit or lay comfortably in a quiet place. Relax, close your eyes, and take several deep breaths. Breath through your nose, eventually letting your breathing fall into a natural pattern. Pay atten...

Who Are You - Really?

Who Are You - Really? - You are a spiritual being. You recognize something in you that is greater than the experience you may be living. Trust that part of who you are. Our difficulty in our society is due to all the conditioning we have had through education and culture that places so much emphasis on our mind and denying our emotions. You have not been properly taught about your true spiritual nature and that the mind, body, and emotions are tools to serve you. These concepts can be quite challenging to accept, particularly if your family history and life experience is steeped in religion. Yet, all religions, in some way or another, do not contradict what is being said, nor are they contradictory to what science has discovered at the quantum level and beyond. All that is required is the ability to recognize the time period of religious origins, the knowledge and understanding of the day, and that the scriptures conveyed a message in the best possible way that could be understood at ...

Why Is Spiritual Truth So Elusive?

Why Is Spiritual Truth So Elusive? - Why is spiritual truth so elusive? Why is it that matters of spiritual significance are so hard to verify and validate? I have been pondering hard on this subject for quite sometime. And these are my conclusions. Spiritual truth is so elusive possibly because of several factors. They are as listed below: 1. Many seekers are using the wrong modes of seeking. What do I mean by this? Firstly we try to relate and uncover spiritual truth and reality with our own thinking faculty. This will lead us to nowhere because spiritual reality is what is encapsulating our limited thinking faculty. Spiritual reality is in a way 'beyond' the normal thinking mode assigned by a personality/self. No offence, but most people are doing this precisely. As such believers can ONLY believe and NOT experience divine spiritual reality. My first experiences of Divine Consciousness were during meditation sessions. Very significantly, during these meditations, thoughts ...

Yin-Yang You

Yin-Yang You - Recently, life has been busy, alive, and in some ways, quite settled. I write best when turmoil stirs in my heart, sometimes for myself, others times for others. This week has been such a week of celebration full of activity and people that I haven't had time for much reflection. When I have, my mood and thoughts have been high and clear. Winter is coming and with it comes the never-ending rain. Maybe that will be when the dark-side will bring us some new light. I suppose some might wonder what that means. The dark side, we all have one. Think about it, all those things we don't like about ourselves. Bad habits, behaviors, attitudes we've been told are not nice; many things make up our dark side. Too often it is suppressed, not to be recognized or embraced. Rather than admit it is there, we would prefer to say we don't suffer from any of these afflictions and suppress the negative aspect. Here's the rub: What you deny owns you, what you accept gives...
